“ I was quite overwhelmed with how to navigate recently realising I was struggling to tolerate multiple foods after months of symptoms and how to figure out which foods had triggered symptoms. Since there were no medical allergies, I was feeling embarrassed at having to explain all the foods that I was trying to avoid. Alongside this, I had been struggling for a little while with energy levels and sugar crashes and constantly needing to graze, with a little fear of light-headedness and fainting if going long periods without food.
Working with Laura has hugely changed my habits, my perception and mentality around food and made it possible for me to manage my specific dietary requirements. I have a lot more awareness around what foods trigger my symptoms, which has made life so much easier and more enjoyable! I’m now also more likely to make the choice to avoid them and more confident in making sure others are aware when I can’t eat certain foods. Not having bouts of pain and uncertainty around what to cook or what choices to make on a menu has been hugely liberating. I am also eating much more substantial meals and grazing less, meaning much less planning on snacks, brain fog and worries around food or snacking before social event or work. The summaries after each coaching sessions were extremely helpful as reminders of my goals when writing a shopping list a couple of days later and throughout the time to reflect on the changes introduced and keep returning to why they were being made. It also showed just how far the progress was, especially having reviews in sessions at the halfway and end points. The documents and articles shared were really high quality and interesting but accessible in terms of
understanding and the amount of time to read. Any charts and tables were also especially useful as they’re easy to revisit on a weekly basis.
The most valuable thing I’ve learned is how interconnected diet is with the rest of my lifestyle. Becoming aware of how much other factors like sleep, stress and routine can impact food choices has helped me both create sustainably healthy habits and rely less on willpower. .
